I know you want the glitter, but look into Krylon over Rustoleum. I just like Krylon better. Drying time is sometimes amazing! 5 to 10 minutes till handle.
Of course that's if you start over.

If I start over I still want glitter. I'll just be using way less since the base coat is similar color. It won't take a ridiculous amount of caked on glitter til the color comes through.

Alright, I'm tired of trying to paint one side only and being stuck in garage with no room. I made a quick paint booth.

Should I fully strip all the paint again or do you think sanding down would be ok?

Haha, thanks man. It's 9 pieces of 8 ft 2x4, and 2 pieces of 12 ft 2x4.
2x12ft's get cut in half, gives me 6ft boards for the length of booth, 1 in each corner to support the frames.
6x8ft's as the height, every 2 feet.
3x8ft's cut in half for 6x4ft, as the width, top and bottom of frames.
3" Wood screws throughout to hold it together. 2 eye hook bolts in the center frame that will hold the chain and S hooks to hold go kart.
Then I used 1 roll of 10x25ft sheeting to wrap it. Staple gun, with cardboard between the staples at the top, center, and bottom areas to help prevent tearing supposedly.

Is that you in the background? What kind of dip do you dip?

Kind of looks like green treated wood, at least going by the pictures. If I didn't have to worry about the freakin' township or county, I'd build a small shed/workshop to do all this. But they need you to get a permit for even a small 12'x12' shed. I'd have plenty of lighting, A/C, 240v receptacle, few 120v outlets and an exhaust fan for paint and weld fumes. Plus a concrete floor and 22ga sheet metal over the walls to prevent weld and grinding sparks from catching it on fire. I guess it'll need a wood stove too...MN winters suck...oh and a fridge and a TV.

Nah that's my dad. No idea what dip he uses, that's disgusting.

Yea it's the treated wood since it would be outside. I wish I could make a shed, same issues though. Plus I live in an association.

When I used to work on stock cars, we did something similar to my buddies entire garage.
He was using a real paint sprayer not cans, but I want to tell you we made a cheap ventilation thing.
Buy a 20" box fan at wal-mart like 20 bucks or less. then buy a cheap thin 20x20 Furnace filter. We put it in the doorway for fresh air, the filter kept the dust off the wet paint. I don't want you to come out of there addicted to "Huffing Paint" LOL

LOL. I thought of it, but I just plan to leave the bottom open, has a 6" opening all around. I'm hoping that's enough for airflow without letting too much through to come up to kart.

Didn't you already start using paint stripper ? If so its down to metal from there . Get a grinder with a wire wheel or wire cup on it . The braided one . It will take that paint right off.

That was before. I painted it with glitter paint but it came out wrong. Do I need to get it down to bare metal again or can I just sand it down and recoat?

You can just sand it down lightly and recoat, providing it is nice and smooth or to your satisfaction. People only take paint down to the bare metal because of rust, rust-through or the paint finish is rough, runny, bubbly, etc.

Provided you get it down to a sound base , you don't have to go to bare metal.

I would still shoot it with a primer sealer to have a fresh canvas. Then a basecoat of color , then glitter, then clear.

All that would probably be better starting with bare metal though.

And will for sure save time vs grinding down to bare and starting from square one. Unless it's really bad (streaking and such), just sand it l, prime and go from there.

Ok so I got the kart hung. Sanded it down to smooth. Thankfully most of the paint is still intact. I guess I'll hit it with the color til even coverage, then light glitter to top it, then clear coat. Should I allow any of them to fully dry first? Or just hit them all back to back within an hour?

Also kept stripping kart #2 and mine just barely got started.
