You may want to look into the sparks too. Something rubbing against the frame, the ground? Don't want to lose that nice clutch you have. Other than that nice work.

Do you have trouble with your feet hitting the steering mechanism? If so, you may want to reverse the set up, so that the steering linkage is pointing down from the steering column. This will provide ample foot/leg clearance.

the sparks are from the driven pulley of the converter rubbing against the engine. lock collar job.
i do have a small problem of me hitting the linkage, but surely if i reverse it, it will steer the wrong way? and ground clearance up front would be an issue.
btw, thanks for some ideas from your website, u have been an inspiration for the frame ;)

Steering Linkage Issues

You are right, if you retain he wheels the way the are, you will have everything backwards...however....

If you switch the steering knuckles/wheels from the left to the right this will in effect reverse the steering linkage. Bottom line is you want it to be behind and under. Currently you have the steering knuckles forward and the steering linkages above your steering column.

Thanks for the input. I am glad to see things are progressing well with this go kart. Keep up the good work...and continue to be safe.

BUMP!!!!
"Big" upgrades this summer- new steering setup, 18" rear wheels, 14" front wheels, possibly suspension and a paint job!
I was wondering what colour scheme you people thought would look cool- I was thinking either lime green frame with orange or purple wheels and extras or gloss black with gold, red, yellow or orange wheels and extras.
Here is some paint i have found- i dont know if it would be good? They also do enamel paint- i dont know if this is better?
Either that or something else, eg. por15 (but por 15 is expensive and lacks colours).
Opinions?
Btw these are the rear wheels.
Oh and finally I have ordered a new rear sprocket and chain- heavy duty #40 pitch finally! no more aluminium racing #219!!!

real go karts don't have suspension... ;)

paint is over rated too... you're just going to get it muddy lol, but I'd paint it whatever color(s) make you happy man. That's a nice little Kart you have.

Lol true, but the land i drive on could do with suspension.
I want some decent paint so it does not rust. I could just use the same green but i wanted sonething that would last longer.
