Brakes and a new project
So I finally got the brakes working flawlessly now. Moved the master cylinder to the left of the seat, rather than to the right of the engine - which allowed me to run a straight metal rod to the lever that compresses the cylinder. Using a cable made it too hard to press on the pedal (I tried making sure there were no kinks in the cable, wasn't having much luck). Also, the motorcycle and snowmobile calipers I had previously tried were designed for a much thicker brake disc. I bought a used Yerf Dog hydraulic caliper off of eBay for $30. The new solution makes it practically effortless to engage the brakes, I can easily spin out now when i stomp on the brakes!
Sorry about all the mud on the kart (no I'm not, had fun putting it on there!).
Meanwhile, I have started a new project, building a cost-effective (hence the $15 Harbor Freight front wheels, lol) small single seater. I bought a new tube bender, seem to be having some good results with it. I'll be starting a new thread for this project. Gotta love Harbor Freight coupons - I found the $99 6.5hp motor coupons on the internet! Preview below.

I agree (reviews were horrible for them). But I needed something cheap to throw on to get it rolling until I can find something better. Go-kart parts aren't a-plenty around here (maybe better than other places), and shipping costs for wheels is a bit steep.
