First Go-Kart!!!!

Hey guys Ive decided to make my self a 2 seater Go-Kart and I need some help.
Where I live there is nothing but hills so Ill be runing it up and down hill and like its a two seater its going to be heavy and I want it to be fast even going up hill. Im thinking about an 11Hp engine. Would that be strong enough????

11hp will be enough. if you can get a torque converter it will be freaking awesome

Well, actually I was thinking about a Centrifugal Clutch.

Well, I just checked out the torque converters out and I cant find one that doesnt have a maximum of 8Hp!! =(

cent clutch will be ok. just be carefull its rated and that you dont burn it up

The one I was planning on using had a max of 10Hp, I figured that would be ok. Is it ok??

They make converters for HUGE engines(they are used in snowmobiles), you just gotta know where to look.http://www.hoffcocomet.com/comet/aftermarket-torque-converters.asp#340 everything comet makes.

Do you have any suggestions?? But I do not want to spend much, thats why I decided Id do the centrifugal clutch.

Yeah I think its the 340 series good for 18 or 24 hp.

We all know he said he wants to use a cent clutch but it just WONT work for very long.

You don't need some huge expensive sled torque converter. Get a Comet 40 Series off Ebay, less than $200, and much cheaper than replacing your centrifugal clutch every couple days.

no. itll slip.

instead of ~$400 for engine and converter. get a dirtbike/atv motor. at least 4 gears for low and top end. much better deal IMO

*some ATVs come with torque converter type gearboxes

You can buy a ENTIRE 4 speed 4 stroke 125 cc engine for 120-150 bucks and it comes with everything needed to make it run. That's cheaper than JUST the 11 HP engine.
