Hello all! this is my first kart and I am so close to being done I can taste it. I figured I should post some pictures to see what some people that know what they are doing had to say.

All I have left to do is mount the engine and hook it up (I dont have the spockets/clutch/chain yet :censored: ) also I need to hook up cables for all the controls

So let me know what you think. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have

Thanks!

Is all that triangular looking design up in the front just for decoration or will it serve some purpose?

LOL on the skull brake pedal! That's pretty creative.

what are those red things on the back? dont look like bearings

i got the whole rear axel of a rideing mower and those are the brackets that the band breaks mount to. the wheels have bearings in them. it works cuz its a one wheel drive.

well i guess its a bit of both it helps reinforce the steering wheel and shaft. also it gives me a place to put the head light. but over all it just looks freeken' awesome XP

Don't be harsh, just because it isn't your cup of tea doesn't mean it's ****, period. Thats just your opinion on aesthetics, which isn't relevant because it's what he likes. I think he's done an excellent job, and once painted, will be a nice individualistic touch. Rather then put others down, we should always, always be supportive and helpful whenever we can-thats what set's this community apart from other online forums, IMHO.

I'm impressed.

I like the idea of using chain as a steering wheel.

For some reason how the steering looks is a big matter on a Gokart.
Is not easy to get a small one & they can suck up some $$ out of the project too.

Another I saw was made from square tubing & some curved tubing. Shaped exactly like this. (X) !!

Its what he likes and I think it looks kinda creative. And dont get upset, You will figure your kart out eventually and it pays off in the end. Just be patient.

Once the bugs are out of it, and you get to slap a coat of paint on it, it's always a thing of beauty. Like Tyler says, don't give up- you obviosly have the skills and equipment to nail this. VERY COOL RIDE!

I agree!

I've been working on mine for over a year and it's still kicking my butt:ack2:

But it's a good feeling when you work things out:wai:

thanks for all the complements. i have begun work again! last weekend i went to a car show/ swap meet with my friend and i found some really good stuff. sadly we did not find a clutch which i have yet to get :censored: however i did find a metal chop saw for 45 bucks and a pair of ATV shocks for only 10 bucks

:bannana:

i got the brakes mostly set up but i still have to hook them up to the pedal. has anyone thought to use a turnbuckle to make there brakes easy to adjust? if so can some one tell me how they did it?

other progress was side rail type things so when i go around a corner i don't slip out of the seat.

looking back i should have bought one of the 5 point harnesses. they were only 5 bucks a pop

*disclaimer* :useless: i know my camera died like no joke 5 seconds before i went to post this i have to charge it a bit then i will post some pics
