Finished my first completDIY Gokart project

Took me about 8-10 weekends worth of work and about 150 dollars total. Everything from the frame, spindles and steering yolk was hand fabricated. Thank you guys very much for all the help and ill be more than happy to answer any and hopefully all questions regarding my kart which I'm call The FJ-Fox (in honor of my recently past grandfather)

The floor is coming soon the front axle is working well as a foot rest for the meantime

What kind rear end is that. Live or stub axles?

I used a fixed axle, only one wheel is attached to the drive. Both the sprocket and brake drum are attached to the same wheel.

You've done well considering the price. The only thing that concerns me is the wheels; they don't look it but, are they the cheap HF wheels?

Yes they are, at least untill I get my hands on some better ones. However I have taken some precautions mentioned on a previous thread. I re-welded the hubs onto the rim and welded the two halves of the rim together to ensure strength, also I greased the hell out of the bearings to get the most use out of them. As a precaution however I bought a complete second set of 4 for backups

I strongly suggest (other than the aforementioned floor and wheels) that you zap some gussets onto the steering yoke where you've kinked the tubing. Those kinks will break.

Unfortunately, all that won't help much; the problem is not in the joins etc but, in the material itself. The steel used to make the two rim halves is too thin & the bearings are only low speed, light duty bearings

60355K705 from McMaster-Carr, they're $8.41 each and rated for 7800 RPM which is plenty for a kart.. but not flanged.

you may need the flanged for your wheels. 6384K365, those are rated for 1000 RPM which i may be wrong but doing the math in my head is like 35 MPH. Not sure why there is such a difference in them. I have the flanged ones in my mini bike and they work great. Non-flanged in the front wheels of my kart and they are perfect.

Here it is finally put in the final pieces, the floor and bumper. This weekend I got it up to 29.2 mph, hopefully ill break 30 after some more tweaking the carburetor.
