You definitely won't need 72 feet of steel to build a basic go kart.

I agree, just get 2 24' lengths and have a bit left over. I've built a kart with a single 24' length, but I had 6" left over and no room for error. You'll probably mess up a few times since this is your first kart, with 48' you will have plenty of room for error.

Man I hope I don't make too many errors and need more. I'm waiting on steel to come now, just ordered

You can get a 50 inch at BMI, but even that is going to be pretty tight by the time you put on hubs and tires.

Just checked BMI, they have a 55 inch axle :wai:

So now the ? Is, should I tuck and make a fiberglass body or just be normal
