Hello all new member in swfl. This is my first go at building a go kart or anything of this scale. In my younger days I built a number of motorcycles but nothing almost completely from scratch. My goal is to build a scaled down but as accurate to the original as I can of my favorite car of all time! It is a bit larger than a traditional go kart but certainly not a full size replica. Here are some pics from the beginning till now. I am 2 months in and making progress. Let me know if you want any info. I included a pic of the original inspiration car not my finished build!

UNREAL. You are one talented craftsman. Very nice work. Is that a boxer 6 cylinder engine? What's it's origin? Also, welcome to the forum.

Thanks guys! Glad to be here. The engine is from a 1993 Honda goldwing 1500 flat 6 with 5 sp+ reverse. The real car has a 3 L flat 12 so this motor made sense to me. It's end use....? Neighborhood ripper??? I just really wanted to build it. I did all the design and cutting for the frame a luckily have a friend who was willing to weld it for me. Exact dimensions I don't have in front of me but wheel base should be around 70" and overall width is around 58". For comparison a standard golf cart wheelbase is around 65". For a size reference the front wheel is 10".

That's a good question! Not sure what to anticipate. Rear wheel is 12" so there is a small tire selection so I got the one with the highest speed rating I could find which is N!

Yes I am doing all the glass work. Obviously doing it off of plugs, it would take a lot longer to build a mold than actually finish the body.

Thats a ambitious project! Looks great! I'm interested to see how you handle the drivetrain/suspension/axle/differential. Is that honda a shaft drive?
l'm playing with an idea using a similar propusion unit.

Drive shaft is done. It is a bit longer than I would like. Debated making KIMG1414.JPGKIMG1411.JPGKIMG1412.JPGa shorter solid shaft but I like the fudge factor a u joint gives me. I still may make one anyway. Here is the mock up and generally where the wheelbase will fall.
