Crazy. I was just today wondering what happened to you!

I did not have to replace the Side cover gasket on mine, Cause it was brand new never been run.
But there is that possibility, It is just a paper gasket.

However, as the gasket controls crankshaft end play, it must be replaced with the same thickness gasket...

Do you know the thickness of so called gasket? I would have tried to save the old one but if I couldn't I would have grabbed the grey rtv and done it like any other case. Didn't think about endplay.

Good advise there Oz.

Yeah, mines brand new. I thought maybe I could get away with it. Now I have another problem. After I got everything put back together one of my pistons in my caliper quit working and I can't get it loosened up. So now I have no brakes and don't know even what the braking system is from to go look for parts...

I totally dig these father son builds. I did one a couple of years ago and am planning another for this winter. If you're still unsure of the spacers on the axles, go to post #12 in the link here of mine and you can see them on the axle between the bearings, brakes, etc. They are essentially just electrical conduit with an inside diameter the same as you axle diameter. Use these with your collars and nothing will slide around. http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=25722
