Might as well... Living on the East Coast and with the winter snowstorms, this golf cart was left outside. Too many things need addressed before my family rides on it. Also I do not want it to look like crap when we move to Arizona.

I like to give most plastic a good wipe with lacquer thinner...(testing a small area first) ....

Home Depot had "Wipe New" on clearance for $10....so I bought a box...I believe it was for "outdoor equipment " or something....anyway, I tried it on faded Briggs air filter cover and it looks like new now...

Well...I went online and I found what I bought: it was wipe new home and outdoor.I guess I got a pretty good deal....it's $20 online..

I would definitely test for a good lacquer scrub down and if it can take it, do that..if not, then some of that wax remover paint prep spray stuff.

The reason being, Wipe New works better on a clean surface , if there's oil ,wax , or some other barrier between it and the plastic it will coat it, but it won't color up as well in those areas making the color less consistent.

I used to do the same thing with Turtle Wax F21 Super Protectant , but it would often take two or three applications that I would let sit overnight. I still love that stuff for a lot of stuff like tires, hoses, and interior plastics, but for all those, I pretty much dilute 50/50 with water. The result is less sheen. So....a tire looks like it just came off the rack, not sprayed with lacquer....And a brand new cars interior vinyl doesn't shine either....so it just looks new, not shined up.

Well the weather has delayed UPS' delivery of my shocks.
So I started working on the body. The pic is of the front body panel. I won't have time to get it professionally painted or find a friend with a paint sprayer. So I decided to use rust oleum metallic blue. I laid down several coats of primer and wet sanded between. Doesn't look too shabby.

I still have one more rear quarter panel needing body work and paint. I have been replacing all the hardware on everything I wrench on. I should be able to have this up and going on time for our move to AZ.

No in the garAge. Then when if was dry to touch, i brought it inside to cure for 3 days.

You might try wax and grease remover on the duct tape goop, it's had mixed results for me, sometimes it works, sometimes not so much, but it shouldn't damage the paint or
Plastic at all.

I have been using a wire wheel to remove paint from metal surfaces and using this citrus adhesive remover on the plastic and rubber parts. It takes some elbow grease but has been working out.

I did a few more things to the cart. I did find the rear wheel to be missing two wheel hub studs, thus leading to a broken rim - SMH... Luckily studs are easy to replace, available locally, and I have a spare rim.

I did get the rear body panel back on and more duct tape removed. Still a lot to do to improve this cart...

Paint complete.
New carb, new belt, new throttle cable, new front shocks, and I still need a new generator belt - but will keep using until then.

Will upholster seats in a week or two.

Nick, the Marathons were known to have very sloppy steering. There is no adjustment to tighten them up. What ever you do, do not play with the governor on the rear end.I have replaced many stripped ring and pinion gears because some one wanted to go faster. 12 years selling and servicing those things taught me those 2 very important things. Too bad it is not a 1988 on down you could ditch the governor then. Formula 2001 (fluorescent green spray bottle) by Turtle wax is the best stuff I ever found for shining up all the black stuff on a golf cart. The floor mat will be really slick though so be careful. A high pressure power washer is the best thing I found for cleaning the floor mat and cart in general. (mine is 3200 psi. at 4.0 gal. per min.)
