Hi guys, I got a big issue here. I have a pedal moped engine and i used to start it with a drill. I left my project to rest for about 2 years and now i decided to finish it but my engine won't start. It wets my spark plug every time(plug checked and lights a blue spark) and if i try to pull the throttle it blows smoke through air intake. I have no idea where the problem is. I tried everything. Cleaned the carb, the engine, it won't start. Any idea why the smoke is coming out of the air intake? Or why might it wet the plug? Is a 2 stroke moped engine

Just FTFOI, have you tried a shot of ether?

It sounds to me like the timing is off. I have no idea how sitting could do that though.

Is there any compression?

I asked that because this engine has also a decompression valve and i wanted to know which one does he mean

Exhaust valve.

There is no exhaust valve, is a 2 stroke

I guess I missed something.
I'm sure kartboy has the correct answer.

We usually get it right....but first...shoot a shot of carb cleaner...(I don't like ether) in the carb and try turning it over and let us know what happens.

If your spark plug is wet...(like you said) take it out first and shoot it with carb cleaner and let dry first and then do the carb and start thing.

better to spend 50 bucks and some time (if you have it) rebuilding everything rather than buying everything new.i said 50 as a random number btw.

What should i rebuild? The engine?:lolgoku:

I also thought it.might be bad synchronization, but i don't know if is possible on a 2 stroke

Engine, Carb, everything pretty much. It might solve your problem and help in the long run.

You have spark, you have compression, you have fuel... And it has no valves so it can't be timing right? The only thing left is the carb? If it sat for a long time with any ethanol in the fuel you may want to rebuild da carb anyways..
