I have a manco dingo 6.5 hp briggs that I just got to ride for the first time yesterday. I bought it a couple of weeks ago but had to put it in the shop to have a pull rope assembly put on. But when I got it home it rode fine no issuses between my kids and I we rode it for maybe an hour yesterday afternoon. Went for one last ride yesterday afternoon. It starts usually with about 3 pulls on the rope and idles fine. Then as soon as you hit the gas it shuts off every time. It will start right up but again as soon as you hit the gas it shuts off again. Any ideas?

Yeah it kinda sounds like a carb problem but some of the 6.5hp brings models were equipped with a sensor that kills spark when your low on oil. So I'd make sure its full just to rule that out.

Try filling the gas tank all the way up too, sometimes minor problems can cause it to have a harder time drawing out fuel from a partially full tank. Also make sure your gas is fresh, old gas that's been sitting around for a few months can start to go bad and cause all kinds of weird symptoms.

i still don't get where your point is that proves "let it warm up" is so much better than "i would try just letting it warm up for a minute"

p.s. no offense to Dave or any thing, any way i think this is a bit :eek:fftopic:

I didnt say "i would try just letting it warm up for a minute", i asked him how long he let it warm up for. We need to know what he did before we go about giving him suggestions.

Fine, you both fail.

Alright, how long did the kart sit in the shop for repair for the recoil? That will tell us if its possible the carb was clogged.

tell us the time and see if you have old gas to.

If it is old it will do that but it sounds like you got a weak spark plug or not getting enough fuel.

Thats also a good point about the low oil kill too that anderkart made.

Yea, sorry about that. I probably shouldn't have said anything. Anyway, I don't think devino was trying to say that my comment is better than yours. I think he's joking, saying that I said said the same thing you said.

Adding to this thread a bit...

Mine does the same thing (stalls when you press the gas) but only when hot! I flushed the tank and added fresh gas and a dribble of seafoam (about two cap fulls, about a week ago). Runs like a scaled cat until it warms up then bogs down and then will only idle. Did the seafoam loosen more crap in the tank? Vacuum leak somewhere? (can't hear any whistling....but then my tinnitus may be interfearing LOL!)

Sounds like a fuel problem alright. Remove the gas cap and try running the motor under load with the cap off (or very loose). Sometimes a gas cap can go faulty and the tiny air vent will get clogged. You know how on your gas can (filler can) there is a vent opposite from the spout, and if you do not pull the vent cover off, the gas pours out very slowly? You may be simply running out of fuel due to a fully pressurized gas tank.

If that doesn't work, pull the gas line off of the carb and see if gas flows freely (use a bucket). You may have a clogged filter in the line. If gas is flowing freely, THEN go for carb removal and cleaning. Keep it simple first!
