Sounds like a fuel problem alright. Remove the gas cap and try running the motor under load with the cap off (or very loose). Sometimes a gas cap can go faulty and the tiny air vent will get clogged. You know how on your gas can (filler can) there is a vent opposite from the spout, and if you do not pull the vent cover off, the gas pours out very slowly? You may be simply running out of fuel due to a fully pressurized gas tank.
If that doesn't work, pull the gas line off of the carb and see if gas flows freely (use a bucket). You may have a clogged filter in the line. If gas is flowing freely, THEN go for carb removal and cleaning. Keep it simple first!

Rob, when is the last time it ran well? You say your motor has no choke???? You say that it only stalls when hot, I'd try a new spark plug.
