Engine mounting help

Hello,

I'm building my first kart, and have reached the engine mounting stage. My engine is a Loncin 196cc engine. I ordered a 30mmx92mm engine mount, assuming that they were some what universal. However, as in the photos, my engine is too big for the mount. The engine sits on the frame fine, just the engine on the mount doesn't.

The mount was described as 30x92mm. I know what the 30mm is, but what does the 92 mean? And is it just the case that I have ordered a mount for a specific engine, which makes it too small?

The bottom of the engine dims (center to center of holes) are 80mmx160mm

That mount is for racing engines, probably racing 2 strokes like a Comer. You need a weld on universal mounting plate. You’re building a kart from scratch? It’d help for us to see some pictures of what you’ve got.

Again, that’s a specialized mount for racing engines on a racing chassis.

those engine mounts dimensions are frame rails only..

so two 30mm tubes 92mm apart

usually te seller notes what engines it's used for somewhere in the flow text at least briefly.

Now, 92mm is what american call "international rail distance"
sooo italian karts.. italian karts use italian engines (exclusively 2 strokes)
if that was all the hint you got, then it's indeed a bummer.

what you need to look out for is a motor mount that's specifically made for four strokes.
ideally one for a gx200

and no, you do not need a weld on mounting plate..
you can easily DIY such mount by buying the buttterfly clamps individually
and a matching engine plate for your engine... four holes for the clamps and you'd be set.

Thanks both for the input. I'll look into the DIY methods and see how I get on from there.

To save from starting a new thread, I also have a question about my clutch of that's okay.

How do I go about securing the clutch to the shaft, as there are no holes for screws in the clutch? I understand that a bolt will go into the end of the shaft, but this still leaves room for the clutch to move side to side.

It looks like you’ve got the set screw less version, so yeah, a bolt in the end of the shaft, and some washers to keep it’s alignment. Try getting different diameter washers so you don’t get any friction. If you can find one that fits, you could probably find a suitable set screw collar.

what is the thread pitch on that clutch???
I havent seen a 16t clutch before.....or at least a common one....
Is that #219 chain????
You might have problems with finding sprockets that will fit as thats not all that common...
