Engine dies in idle

I have a gas scooter/moped like deal that i bought from a garages sale and the only problems with it are that the electric start dosn't work it makes a wierd sound but thh engine wont turn over but more importantly while im riding it if i dont apply any throttle then the engine dise which is really anoyng at intersections when your waiting for the walk light to come on is this normal or what?

maybe your idle screw on your carb is set too low. give it a few cranks right and see if that helps.

also maybe check/change the fuel filter.

or clean the carb, check the timing key, change the sparkplug, try fresh gas, clean air filter. See where this goes? it can literly go forever. just try the basics first.

it sounds kinda silly but if you have the choke pulled then it will die in idle

need to adjust the mix thenm, its idlting to lean, by chokeing it you make the fuel/gas ratio to a more correct level, a pic of the carb would help. It should just be a screw before the butterfly.

Pulling the choke on a warm engine WILL cause it to die. I think that's what he meant.
