This is great. I picked up a shoprider mobility scooter to play with, and I was looking at one of these 1800w 48v motor/controller combos.

I really like the motor/controller package that makes it fairly simple.
And the help you can get here to get it set up is great.
I'm already thinking about getting another combo to put in my Moby moped to replace the stock two stroke motor instead of rebuilding it.

Final Assembly Begins

Soon I hope!
Last night I started putting it together for the last (I hope!) time.
This takes longer because I am using LocTite and installing cotter pins, setting torque, and all the little details not needed for temporary assembly.

I realized Friday morning when I put the pictures on my computer that I had installed the king pin/spindles upside down which will put a ridiculous amount of negative camber.



So last night I put the wheels on for a couple pictures then took it apart to reverse the spindles.

Now I see I have the outer tie rods mounted wrong so this afternoon I will take them off (again) and mount them under the steering arm.

They are 24V 4AH so I don't expect the runtime to be very long.
Hopefully long enough for Pop to go to the lake a block away and back.
I may be able to find out later today in fact.

It looks like you got (2) 24V 4AH batteries, wired in series, to form (1) 48V 4AH battery pack

...to power a 48V 1,800W motor that draws IIRC ~40A

A 48V 4AH battery pack can supply 4A for (1) hour
...or ~8A for 1/2 hour (~30 min.)
...or ~16A for 1/4 hour (~15 min.)
...or ~32A for ~7.5 min.
…& then, there's probably gonna be some Voltage drop/sag too

Sorry but, IMO if it moves, (with that battery pack) your probably only gonna get a few feet
...or maybe even a few hundred
...but, not (2) city blocks

First ride success!
I didn't go anywhere other than up and down our street, spinning donuts and sliding the one wheel drive on the packed snow.

I rode it for twenty minutes almost continuously and at full throttle most of the time.
The battery monitor had me at 25% for the last five minutes and the top speed dropped by half in medium range but stayed the same in low range at 5 mph GPS speed.

I forgot to check the top speed in medium before the battery dropped to 25% so the fastest recorded was 7 mph. With fully charged batteries it will probably be about 10 mph which is what I had figured the sprockets sizes for. I don't think I will need to change the speed range wires to use medium and high since medium and low are what I hoped for.

It was too cold to do any more testing... it was -11 this morning so I waited till it warmed up to -2 before putting on my snow suit and winter gloves.

Dad came out and took it up and down the driveway twice then went back inside where it is warm. He said it is FREEZING! outside.

I checked the batteries and they are 22.5v and 22.6v.
They are going on the charger now.

Everything worked like it is supposed to so I am happy.
Now to mount the seat (now is some wood blocking with a piece of foam covered with a small sheepskin. Then the bodywork...

Sweet! I'm trying to figure out gearing for mine. Motor is coming with a 11t I believe, and my tires are around 12.5" tall.

I forgot to post a picture of my Dad testing his new scooter out...

It was -7F when I was zipping around on it in the driveway and street to see how battery life might be. Dad came out to try it but wouldn't put on a parka, or gloves, or a hat... so he got cold really quick but he had fun!

High speed power chair

Hi there, it seems like you are building something along the lines of what l have built. I can go into detail of what l used, and how it was accompanied, if you would like. My hight speed power chair tops out at 35mph, and has a range of about 5 miles.
