Electric minibike question

That motor you posted first appears to have a worm gear used to drive the output. Those are made for torque, not speed. Your best bet would be to use a high-torque motor without the gear reduction.

thanks kibble would it be easier to just stick with petrol engines so or would you recommend buying an electric motor

It's MUCH, MUCH easier to deal with a gas motor vs. an electric motor, not to mention a lot cheaper. If you have the funds/resources to do something electric then it's no problem.

I think the opposite, as it's pretty much straightforward with electrics. *Plug* *snap* *plug* *splice*

:)

Course... I'm always taking electric things and putting a engine on them :D

^Exactly my point. When ever I do wiring I always solder and heat shrink everything. Sorry just cant have loose un-solder wires flapping in the wind at 90 MPH on my dragster!

Hehe, is that shrink-wrap that black-ish tubing that you use a torch or something to "wrap" to the wires?

I normally go a a electronics speicelty store and buy it in a box with all different lengths and colours. But 2or3 I thought you didnt mind hillbilly ghetto rigging stuff?

Shrink wrap is a must for wiring jobs! And to the OP, A gas engine will be cheaper to build for a minibike.
