electric jeep?

i have a jeep with a seized engine and i thought why not make it full electric. sure it may cost more but in the end it will be worth it.

i want to go with hub motors that way i can cut down the weight of the transmission and transfer case. i think i would be able to anyways.

its an 85 jeep Cherokee Laredo with a 2.8 v6 4x4. would anyone be able to point me in the direction of the hub motors. i did some searching of my own but didnt find anything on google.

No. he's right. just as much as a new jeep easily. those motors and batteries,controllers, etc... can be ALOT of money.

well still. id like to have electric. powerband starts at 1rpm and all the way to the max rpm which i would like. also soon im going across the US and would like electricity instead of gas

better off converting to propane or a diesel to veggie oil. Seriously your talking 15-20k. Moving 3000lbs is alot different equipment than moving a 300lb gokart. and a very small range. heres a place that has kits and parts

Find yourself a nice 4cyl cummins or lil VW diesel and burn veggie oil in it, my brother has several Cummins he runs with veggie oil... I would imajin the smaller diesel woul dget better mpg, and still be able to get the Jeep to boogie right along.

well it wouldnt equal 3000lbs if i went with hub motors as i would be able to get rid of the front axle, transfer case, transmission, and rear axle. that should take out alot of that weight but i will shop around and try to find hub motors the will work for me.

actually yes i have. havnt been able to find one really. but i would have to get a 350 short block.

would 7kw per wheel be enough? thats 28kw total.

also how much does unsprung weight count toward handling?
