EEARGH!! Bent rim!

I BENT my rim!!!!
The right half of the front right wheel.
I was going around a corner to the left, opposing the drive wheel.
Long story short, the front wheels slid, and the kart went all the way up on the curb.
It bent the aforementioned wheel half, and the rear right part of the axle.
I already managed to fix the axle, but the wheel is incredibly stubborn.
I have already hammered on it for ~1 hr, but it's not doing much. I'm thinking about maybe taking it to a machine shop and having them use a hydraulic press to straighten it out.
It's either that or hammer it to heck.

Any ideas? Or is it too far gone? The tire/tube still holds air, but I hate having a bent rim half.

EDIT - Sorry, the pic is sideways, but it's still easy to tell that it's pretty bent.

Why not just replace those look extremely rusted and pitted?

If I reasonably can, I'd like to save them. I know they are quite rusty, but there are no rust holes, meaning they might still be salvageable.
I'm still kickin' myself for running it up on the curb. The sketchiness finally came and bit me on the butt.

I mean if you have a tube in it which I would think you do because of wheel condition, I would think it doesn’t have to be absolutely perfect, but more or less good enough. I did the same to a bike once and just bent it back best I could, but then I’m not going 20+ mph

Tube because of the split rim. Paint those up good jt. And beat on it some more. Give it a nice painting and it'll last longer.

Yeah, I think I'm just gonna keep hammering it for a bit, and then put that half of the rim on the inside, to kinda conceal it, but after some more hammering, a good wire wheel treatment, and I'm thinking several coats of clearcoat, I'll probably just roll with it(and be VERY careful turning left!).

A bent rim shouldn't be an issue, plus that's mild damage. There's tools for bending steel automotive rims/wheels back into shape so I suspect they might work on a go kart wheel.

See if you can put the wheel half in a vise and use a large crescent wrench to pry it back into shape.

OK, I've decided that I'm going to give these wheels the treatment they deserve, but there's just one problem:
The other rim half won't come out.
I've been soaking it in PB Blaster, but to no avail. The sidewall keeps flexing, keeping the rim in.
Any ideas? Or should I try getting another person to help me and just muscle it?

Is it absolutely necessary to split it? I would think you could just slip the tire and tube on the rim like a non split tire instead of going thru the trouble of trying to split it

Unfortunately I don't have the tools to demount the tire.
I could really use a bead breaker, but I don't have one.
Plus it would be harder to get the tire off without unbolting the rim.

Better get used to this kind of work because those drifts on pavement really wear tires out quick so you should be changing a few more soon
