It will have about a 40-100 millimetre diameter difference and and 1-2mil thickness. But that should matter?

its the differance between the old disc and the new disc

like i said u wouldnt put a car calliper on a push bike

not all calipers are made the same
they only close up so much
and they only open so much

if u took a caliper from an 8mm disc and put it on a 2 mm disc u would find when u push the pedal it wouldnt close enough to grip the disc

if the disc is thinner than the original it won't matter but, the diameter is a different matter. Take one of the pads & place it on the new disc & you'll see what I mean...

Bugger.
I would be able to get a 360mm front disc easily enough. But then that would be a challenge and a half to mount it on the drive Hub which is on the axle :/

Wow you guys are smart. I'm learning more every post! Thanks a ton! One step closer to finishing :)

I could buy the calliper that Edge.au supply. But I'm not sure of its stopping power :/ I am really keen on the brembo units. But then I would need to mount a front disc on the hub :/
I could put a smaller rear calliper instead of a front calliper and then the disc sizes would roughly be the same.
But as someone said earlier. They have less power and don't work until they lock :/

Opinions guys?

No, he said:

The back is only good till it locks up which it will do a lot

Totally the opposite to what you said, they work great but, once it locks, it's useless

Sorry. My bad. I was going of memory after reading it once. So don't hate...

I don't really see the problem with locking. I used to lock my back up on my back up all the time. But since then I never lock it up as it gives more control. And it just takes a steady and controlled foot to control it.

A locked brake is ineffective; there's more friction between a brake disc & its pads than there is between the tyres & the surface they're running on. To work effectively, you don't want the brakes to lock...

:iagree: Thats why you have ANTI-LOCK brakes on cars..... You are no longer in control when your brakes lock. Yes, you can "guide the slide", but you are no longer controling how fast you can slow down n stop. I like a big disc brake n hyd caliper. To scrub off speed in a hurry, I'll MASH on the brake ALMOST to lock up and release, repeating if needed, then apply firm brake pressure to control a quick stop. Its cake walk with a kart considering I also drive BIG RED TRUCKS full of water and tools, and some IDIOT will still pull out in front of us, with EVERY sound and light emitting devices blarring.....I have to be able to stop a 37' truck full of tools, and 8500 lbs of water in a hurry. Locking up my brakes does NOT work. TRUST me.... have cop dash cam video showing our E1 's a§§ end go side ways on my asst.chief today.....'nother IDIOT turned into his lane running "hot"...... idiot got pulled over and took home several souvenirs from the sheriffs office....
Sorry for the high jack.... I ramble......

Okay. Reminds me of what henry ford said :p "you can have any colour you like as long as it's black" :p

Um. I like my ktm bike and that's orange. But I'm not keen to paint my buggy orange. I like red. Maybe red. Or blue. A light blue.
I'm still undecided :p
