ebay brake kit

or one like it?

I picked up a 5hp dingo, its missing all the brake parts even the pedal
the old band brake drum is still there but it needs replaced

This kit looks like it would be easy to install

I used the mechanical disc brake kit from gopowersports.com. Was about the same money. Works good at stopping 400 to 500lbs when I needed it to.

Yes that's the one I have. Works pretty good. Can be setup with a cable or rod.

i could'nt find cable fittings on the gopower site for brake cables?

still would like to hear from anyone that has used a brake like the ebay one

The one from GPS is much better... that other one wont handle the weight.....
Cables/fittings can be sought from a bicycle shop, or get a length of universal brake cable from walmart.... find some fittings from an old bike.....

Bike cable is strong enough to use on a foot brake? I would hate for one of the grand kids to make a panic stop and have it snap

It would make for a easy set up as the sprocket is on the left side i could hang the caliper bracket off the engine platform and run the cable under the engine

The Manco karts typically used a 1/4" steel rod for brakes--much stronger than stranded cable and probably a better feel as well.

My dingo has a bell crank right behind the seat that offsets the solid rod so it can clear the TC.

2 pieces of Rod. But the one from the pedal to the bell crank has a dogleg in it where it threads through a retaining eyelet.

I get some flex because of it but it's not too bad.

I think the rod would be cheaper than getting cable and fittings.

Thanks for the links. after looking at it again i think i can mount the disc brake on the left side and fab up a rod for it.

My big one has the bellcrank too and uses the same brake as was linked from gopower with a 8 inch rotor and it stops fine
