durostar engine

im thinking of buying a durostar 7hp engine for my gokart but idk witch is better the durostar , duromax or predator. im starting the tread because my other ones getting no love :toetap05:

I am no expert, but I would go for the duromax or durostar, just because they are advertised as gokart engines. The predator is a all purpose engine. The predator, if I am not mistaken, is also only 6.5HP. I could be wrong with that though

You should be fine with any of them though

I thik that picture is shopped. Looks like the engine is at a different angle than the kart... not that it really matters or anything.

All are likely to be exactly the same internally (china), only differences between the 3 are cosmetic.

I think your right. Very poorly, I might add. The lighting just isn't right.

Any of those, or an old Techumseh, Kholer, or Briggs and Stratton(will likely need a bit of work at first). Only downfall with Subaru (and I mean the only) is less bolt on mods available, although there are still enough to modify them to the degree most anyone on this forum would (You could just keep it stock!).

If your really interested search the forum for "lawn boy duraforce" you will find lots of information on lawn boy's 2 stroke engines. You could also look for Muchollen (IDK how to spell that) Note that this s NOT at all a bolt on option.

i think as a north american you should support your local industry. Insted buying from a chain store which employs people at minimum wage to sell throw away engines, made in china by workers earning next to nothing.

As said before, they are all clones.
If you must get a clone, then I would get a clone with the same bore and stroke as a honda gx200, 68x54mm IIRC.
This is because spare parts and performance parts are more readily available.

I personally would choose a yellow clone from NR RACING.
This is because they are said to be of a more consistant quality.

However as also said previously, there are also many other reasonably priced alternatives to the chondas, such as 4 stroke briggs, techumsehs, hondas, subarus, anything else with a horizontal shaft of 5/8", 3/4" or 1" and hp between 2 and 20 can be easily used on a kart (2 or 4 stroke).

There are also many alternatives, vertical motors and motors with different shafts that can be used on a kart with modification.

You can also use motorbike engines for high powered shifter karts or buggies.
