It's 10 tooth clutch, to 12 tooth on jack shaft which is one chain, and 35 tooth on jack shaft to I think (if I counted right) 30 tooth on the sprocket which is the second chain.

I haven't done the math, but I'm sorry if I offended anyone or anything like that. I didn't mean to ignore your advice I just didn't know and got whatever the kart shop said was stock. I would imagine it's extremely hard to deal with this thread, because I have a new setup each day. Thanks for trying to help when this is so confusing for me. And that's a shout out to everyone here, not just firemanjim, but firemanjim especially for sticking with me on this all along.

Man,you got that all wrong..... It would be 10 to the 35, and 12 to the 30...... BUT that is 8.75:1!!! You will climb hills with ease. And you will have a tire blistering top speed of 18mph!!!! slow down, kid.....
LoL Youre not gonna like that too much. That's about as fast as that kid ,that you don't like, when he is riding his bicycle...... Do you want him to beat you? On a bike? Well of course not.....
I'll be honest, I would still go back with a 7.2:1 ratio..... Granted, that's only 22mph at 3600rpm, it's still better than 18 and you're not losing that much torque......
Do you understand how the gear ratio thing works? How to find out what speed you're gonna get? It's easy to learn, we have an app for that...... LoL

Whoops, I swear I did know that... I have like 35 pics of how it's supposed to look from online.
Yeah... Because I need to climb all the hills.NOT. Whats the highest top speed I could get without needing someone to push me off the line and without burning anything out? I understand how it works, but just not how to calculate with the jack shaft. I also don't know what is to low, meaning that it will bog off the line or burn something out... so kind of.
So yeah, that whole stock idea is out the door because I'm a young kid meaning I want speed, and you try a find a 35 tooth jack shaft sprocket...LOL

I use that calculator to do jackshaft ratios. Then I use that info, to get your speed, using this http://www.diygokarts.com/speed-calculator.html
Take the given jack shaft ratio, and substitute the numbers to get the same value with just 2 gears. Lets plug in your numbers..... Ok 10 clutch 24js in, 14js out to 36 axle. ==7.2:1
Now, to use that info with our speed calculator , all you do is use the 10 for the engine sprocket, then a 72 for the axle. It's still 7.2:1..... When you plug in 15" tire and 3600 rpm, you get 22mph (theoretically )..... Now, you can want more speed, but CANT sacrifice any more on the gear ratio aspect,so you remove the governor. With no rpm limitations (except valve float), @ 4800 rpms, the 7.2:1 gear ratio nets you a whopping 30mph! Usable power,reasonable speed..... 5800rpm is 36mph ......... And if you buy a billet rod,and THEN 18lb springs, you can cruise at 40mph turning 6400rpm

No, I gotcha.
So, if I have 10 teeth on the clutch to ??? on the jackshaft, and then 12 tooth on the jackshaft to 30 teeth on the axle, what would you recommend for the "???"? I don't want to change anything but the ??? because I just bought the other stuff. I had big plans of going stock...
While that speed would be nice, I'm afraid to take off the governor. I like to go flat out if i have the space, and i got a feeling if I take off the governor I'll be going flatout and break many things. Fix those in advance, you say? Well, I don't want to throw tons of money at it and I certainly don't want to take apart my motor to swap things. This is also a Robin Subaru 5hp so there is NO aftermarket like a Briggs.


EDIT: Looks like I need a 29 for the jackshaft input. That would give me a 7.25

I wish someone would have pointed out that I changed from 30 to 36 mid way through this thread.....
Before I go any further..... What is the size shaft you have? 3/4" or 5/8"? That's gonna tell me what I can find in tooth counts.....

UPDATE:
Me and my dad are doing the whole process tomorrow. Everything the jack shaft includes through and through. As of now my jack shaft is a box of brand new parts I paid a lot for... In 24 hour's it will be a full jack shaft.
Sadly, I'm still waiting on a 29 tooth jack shaft sprocket. It will be here "On or before Wednesday".
Me and my dad are still building the whole thing up tomorrow and popping on the chain that we can pop on, and when the big jack shaft sprocket gets here I can pop it on myself.
THEN I'M ROADTRIPPING TO MEXICO IN THE GO KART... Wait, no... not street legal... and school starts soon... otherwise I would... maybe?

OH YEAHHHHHHH!!
My dad isn't exactly the skinniest... this two seater is really a big one seater... I doubt we will be going together, but he might take it for a spin!
I plan on throwing a video up here big time!

The worst is when you put something down and then within 30 seconds are like wait... where is it?????
I did that one time about 3 months ago and literally spent an hour and a half looking for it. When I found it I felt like a mixture of Sherlock Holmes and The King of The World...

3 months ago? It's every day here..... And just as you described.....
Today, I was using a specific 1/2" wrench. My wife wanted me to see a funny video real quick, so I stopped what I was doing,and went 4' to see..... On and off ,we both spent 3hours looking for it. Still haven't found it. I only went 48".......!!!!! I pulled out all my karts (to my neighbors amazement, that I have so many "toys" tucked away in here) ,swept, moved crap..... It's NO WHERE! I give up......
Did I mention it's painted bright fluorescent orange?! (it really is. Thought it would help keep track of it...... )

^^ This is why I have 3 oil filter wrenches, 4 socket sets, 2 come-alongs, etc. Few things tick me off more than looking for a tool I had in my hand 10 minutes ago.
