I bought myself a bottle of cutting oil a while ago, works really well and it's saved lots of wear on my bits.

Lol I use Mibro cutting fluid/coolant when drilling. The fluid has a low burning point and even a hand hacksaw will make it smoke, Well its not realy like smoke, theres a difference between just vaporizing the fluid and smoking it. Ever open the door on a CNC lathe/mill and see the mist? Kinda like that. Lack of lube didnt kill this bit. I tried to drill threw (Not knowing) hardened steel and killed the bit. Whos hand is messed up Ed? Are you talking about the cut on your hand? I got much worse when working in the machine shop, Whent to pull a razor thin filing stringy thing off the cutting head in the lathe (Bad idea) and sliced right to the bone.

Put some lemon juice on it. It'll help it heal faster.
