It takes me like 30 seconds to flip the cover open, read the chart and adjust the belts. Such a pain in the behind every 10,000 years I actually need to change the speed.

Every bit has a certain speed. I always follow the guidelines. Do you want to see what happens to a bit when over clocked? I dont think you do.

Because drill bit speed is measured in megahertz.... :roflol:

I hear what Tyler is saying. Because I'm lazy I do'nt always stick by the rules but where speed is crucial to me is when I use centre drills or holesaws on the drill press. Then it's a matter of frequent belt changes.

I use a lot of cutting oil and often clean out the chips so I do'nt often smoke drill bits but it can happen if you going too fast for the size bit or apply too much pressure.

Yes I did make a entire video of me cranking up the CVT drill press with a 1/4" bit in it. Got the bit glowing red hot and squeeling like a pig. *Note the Titanium bit used was already dull/half melted before the video and now it is completly welded over.

Sweet, cant believe u actually made a whole video.. My ipod touh wont play flash videos so i have to wait till tomarrow to watch it.

Thanks for video, thats pretty sweet...i've gotten a bit smoking with a hand drill but thats about it (also a crappy bit that my dad tried to sharpen with an angle grinder...)
