Started to make the back axle and jackshaft brace.

Welded tabs on the tank so I can mount it to the back. Also went over to a buddy's and lined the inside with northern fuel tank liner. Should be 100% corrosion and leak resistant now! Gonna start the jackshaft as soon as I get the kit. Should of bought a 25t sprocket for the axle. Hope a 5:1 ratio will be okay for a drift trike.

So jackshaft is here finally so I can drill holes and finish this part. Ordered new tires and wheels for 12" Pvc sleeves. Looks like 38mph with the final ratio Rpm tire size. Pretty fast for a trike but I think I agree that you'll want the tire speed to drift properly.

Well I was planning on finishing some stuff this weekend since I had an extra day but the wheels showed up but weren't delivered. Have to wait till Monday. Drilled the back part for 5/8 jackshaft bearings. Test fit for alignment and found I don't have to offset it, just turned the clutch around and looks about right. For the record a harbor freight 1 3/8" step bit drills a tight fit for a bearing. I'll need to cut the main rectangle tube down a few inches, weld up my seat mount, install tires, cut Pvc, see if thumb throttle is gonna work, install front brake and weld tank mounts on the back. Hook it all up and test it out without getting in trouble at my apartment.

Fought these buggers but broke out the butter knife and dish soap and got them on. Now to cut Pvc and battle again lol.

Just seeing how it all looks. To late to cut the Pvc so maybe tomorrow I'll be able to. Ended with 3in of clearance off the ground vs. The 2in I thought I would have with 10" tires. Glad I didn't weld the main tube yet. Gonna square it all up once I have tires aired up with Pvc on.

I have built a bunch of these drift trikes and all I can say is fun fun fun!!!! I used the honda mini bike engines for most of mine for the lower gearing and better torque to get things drifting from start all the way through the gears. I would add a diagonal bars under the engine from the rear mount to the crank area on the bike frame to stiffen things up. as far as driving without sleeves and a live axle goes well its doable but turning on pavement requires one rear wheel to be lifted otherwise it will just bulldoze forward and fold your rim. now on grass or muddy/snowy and icey surfaces you can remove the PVC and let it rip but be aware of high siding it... Check out my build thread should help with some ideas and questions. I hope you get this project finished because you will have massive fun with it.

Almost finished it over the weekend. Had to use starter fluid to set the bead on one tire. Made one chain and found I need a tensioner for the jackshaft to axle. It's too loose when lined up. Mounted the tank wheels need to weld the seat mount and figure out how to add the tensioner when it shows up.

Worked on it for a while today. Just need to wait till idler shows up to finish. Installed a muffler even and tested out the carb.

Haven't figured it out yet, was thinking of trying to use the one from the oem tank. It appears the company I bought the filler set from now makes them with that same style vent. Being mines stainless and not aluminum, I'm not sure how bad I wanna try to do some threading with a tap.

Make dat mount for the tank! If you can't, one guy here did a IN FRAME gas tank that was super cool, you might want to check that out. Now, I'd be just the happiest twelve year old in the world if you made this trike do wheelies!

I don't blame you for being cautious tapping stainless, I have a crapload of destroyed small drill bits from trying to put a hole in that stuff.

Drilling Stainless can be a PITA good pressure and braking the chips works good. Light pressure will "work harden" the SS and burn out your drill bit. Here is what I did for my vent just put a length of fuel line to the barbed fitting and route it to the ground or catch can.
