Anyone have any traction problems with putting a drag slick on a mini chopper? I thinking about putting one on mine since it is a 18/9.50-8. It is wide but I'm kinda not wanting to buy it if it gets squirrely on me.
It should get awsome traction for drag racing but I wouldnt expect it to handle all that great in the corners.
Here's a link to a bunch of cool videos showing serveral guys running rear slicks on their drag race mini bikes: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=minidragbike&view=videos
Well it really all depends on what style of drag slick you want to run. Some are straight cut with a more ridged sidewall and some half a more rounded sidewall. If I where you, Just go buy a 18x8x9.50 turf saver like on my kart.
The problem isn't just the lack of tread, its the squared off edges on most slicks. When you lean any 2-wheeler to go around a fast corner you'll only be contacting the very narrow edge of the slick. Taking fast corners with super low air pressure should let the tire flex enlarging the contact patch, but that tire flexing around would also make for some spooky unpredictable handling.
