Check the Plug Gap, Valve Lash.....Just go over the motor and check basic things.

Ive seen these motors come from the factory with no Plug Gap, lash cap on one valve and not the other, One spring retainer be different from the other........there are numerous things.

Pull the Fuel bowl and make sure the gas you poured in it didn't have some sh!t in it

I also always let my motors warm up a little before I run em......like 5min worth of idle before putting any load on it.....just a good habit to have.....lets the motor stabilize

Yea i let my toys idle for a few just to get em ready. I pulled the carb today and checked the bowl. Theres no problem there. I found an adjustment screw that was out of sight due to the fuel line in the way. I adjusted it many times with choke on and choke off. I got it to run well once and it died out. After it died it wouldnt run the same. The screw keep spinning out of adjustment so i need to put some temporary loctite on it. The adjusments are the most progress ive made so far. If only i had a clone right now.

thats funny you say that. I just saw the videos. It looks pretty quick. Sounds nice on deceleration. I have a 5hp briggs i could put in the doodle bug now but i dont want t odrill new mount holes and then when i get the clone, have to drill ANOTHER set of holes. Im trying to figure out the bolt pattern for the clone vs a 5hp flathead briggs. Any idea?

I GOT IT RUNNING! Ok so i bought some loctite and put it on the adjustment screw and let it dry. Then i played with different adjustments until it sounded perfect. Now that theres loctite on it it doesnt spin around and actually stays put. I removed the speed limiter screw and took it down the road. WOW this is pretty fast(top speed, slow off the line) for this little bike. I need to get a larger sprocket in the rear so i dont have to push off to get going. Cant wait for the clone. This things going to be awesome

Ok so i got my doodle bug today. Looks great and i am very happy to have a new project. Like everyone says, the stock engine is underpowered...but fun. However, my engine is not running right. It runs when the choke it on but it will die if you ride it full speed and then stop. Also, it will die when you turn the choke off. Or if you give it to much gas to fast. I am going to put a 5hp briggs in it sometime this week. What can i do to make this engine run right? I cant seem to find any adjustment screw on the carb. Thanks for the help in advance. ALSO, does anyone ahve any pictures or links showing the crank breather tube setups on 5hp briggs? I want to see how the billet breather setups work. Is that where you would add a catch can? How? I know theres alot in this post. I didnt want to clutter up the forums. Please help with all my questions so i can get back to having fun!
