im trying to remove the clutch on my go-kart. bolts block access to the crank shaft behind the clutch so channel locks cant get in. theres a bolt on the end of the crank shaft thats holding the clutch on but when turned it also turns the crank. i have not seen any screws in the rear of the clutch so that it could be removed. any ideas?

i was thinking about possibly removing the pull start and grabbing the crank from in the there to stop it from moving.

any suggestions?

What kind of shaft is it on?

Just get a puller, or slide hammer and yank it off.

I cant find the link but I saw a video from a comet distributor on how to remove it. What they did was take out the spark plug and spun the crank so that you get the piston at the lowest point. Then take a rope and feed as much as possible into the cylinder. The rope will jam the pistion from moving without damaging the motor. It worked for me before I had my compressor.

Ohhhh, Now I see the problem, Theres a bolt on the other side of the crank most likely, Or you do the rope thing too

Location
Cold place
Just use a electric impact or rotate the engine to BDC (Bottom dead center) and jam a bunch of nylon rope down the plug hole then rotate the engine forward untill it locks then remove the nut with a ratchet. Make sure you are not at valve overlap at this time or the compressing rope MAY damage the valves.
