Got this go kart this morning. Everything runs and i love it but i need the brake fluid reservoir. He put some PVC caps on it. I just want to make sure if anyone owns this go kart if this would be the right part.

Thisis the engine. Noticed it back fires kinda alot and also the engine doesnt stay idling. It'll start then stay on for a bit then bogs out after a bit. When riding not to long ago with my mom. Had to start the engine again a few times because it shurts off.

It's really a buggy for all intents and purposes.

Sounds like the engine could be running too rich or too lean. The idle speed could also be too low. More info needed on its behavior.

Check your muffler (and exhaust pipe) for holes if it's too loud. Making the buggy quieter gives you tons of options--any muffler that fits the exhaust pipe diameter could be used. Motorcycle, ATV even an automotive muffler if small enough.

Where would the spark plug be? I took a video of it starting then just shutting off on it's own. I'll post it later. My older brother turned up the idle but the screw is pretty much all the way in ( a little to much) and it still does it.

Take another photo to where we are looking into the end a little. Show us the porcelain insulator and the electrode.

I will tomorrow. My brother messed with something now it won't start. He moved a screw by what i think is the carbuarator when the engine was turned off and he removed a hose that the ends were cracked so he cut off the cracked ends and put the hose back how it was. In the picture is the hose he removed, cut the ends and put back on.

The hose is just a way to burn up noxious vapors emanating from the crankcase by routing them back into the carburetor (where they are sucked into the combustion chamber and burned up).

The screw your brother messed with is the likely culprit. Most likely a mixture screw.

You know, it's not a bad idea at all to photograph the engine on a new kart in explicit, painstaking detail as a record of sorts. Therefore, when things fall off or are messed around with, you will know what it was since you'll have a photo of the engine in "as-bought" or "once-working" condition.

In the meantime, tell your brother to buzz-off. :p

Buy, Fix and Sell. This is my only go kart now that i won't sell. Took me awhile to save up the money for it but was a great buy.

On Most Air or Fuel Screws Factory Setting (or close to) is about 2 turns out.

Meaning....

If you slowly turn the screw in (clockwise) until it stops, then back it out TWO full rotations...

You should be in the ball park.

A good way to learn about carburetors is to take em apart and clean them really good.

Two turns out does not apply to the IDLE SPEED screw, only the IDLE MIXTURE screw.

This is the screw he moved and when he turned it. It made a click noise.

This is a different angle. The engined flooded yesterday so let it sit for awhile. Also took the spark plug out and it was a bit wet.
