Ok through the twisted sprial web of confusion....typically known as the YouTube.... I came across a style of racing from the philippines, Known as Ligiron racing...

Basically a wooden downhill kart, no brakes(well your feet, hands, and quite possibly your body if unlucky to have used it in this fashion), wooden wheels shod with a tread from what looks like a motorcycle/scooter(most likely), Bamboo "body"(we'll call it a frame{kart vernacular}). there is no real metal in it this except maybe nails or tacks. Mostly held together via the rest of the tire that shod the wheels.
......They ride this in the bush.......and some paved parts(now)....
But mainly dirt paths.

This apparently is an ancient sport and had a revival via some enthusiasts interested in their history, and to preserve some thing of the past.

I have to admire the folks around the world that take "nothing" and make something, from around the world.

But for me, this tops the whole wooden kart debate.......

OK..OK..OK....... I know the main contender with the "wooden kart" we typically talk about here has a motor....... excluding that......

....... dems have some balls....

Oh I totally want to build one... No hills here, but Im willing to consider this and a find a hill to race..... The misses will kill me when she finds out whats next on the list of crazy... oh well.

long boards... pshaaa... over rated....

drift trike...

Ligiron...... oh yaaa. :2guns::2guns:

I tell ya, those machines seam a little safer than the above. cool little trucks..

( oh is there by any chance an english or translated version, sounded cool, but alas I know no german).

Oh The wooden scooters of Banaue, are a similar version(than above) but typically have brakes.
Some of these pics have floated around the net for a while, but I didnt really relised what they were all about. so cool... I think though, that these are a bit more my style, hard to tell.

Haha I love it! I married a Filapina. And that also means I married her whole family too.
Her parents and sisters always tell me I am obsessed with karts and mini bikes, but they all sure enjoy riding them.

Figures; it's in their blood.
Cool history. I bet her parents (born and raised in the Philippines ) didn't even know about this.

so its longboards?? build with a scooter handle bar? Lol but made of wood?

Also sid's video..

I question that.. we do that around here with longboards and gokarts.. and when the gokart stops.. well..... yeah, not very safe. gokart only weighs like 500 lbs dry, too.

but dem longboarders want to see/feel speed, but its florida. the tallest hill is an ant hill.

:funnypost: :roflol: :smiley_omg:

A good time was had by all. I think I like the third video best; totally a "run what you brung" type of racing. The last team down with the flare's strapped to the back end was a riot!!!!!!

This sunday is new race, guys from last video...

So if you near by komaji, stop by...

:funnypost: I've got a couple of problems keeping me from attending; zero money for the plane tickets, and no passport with any required visa's to get there.......:surrender:

EDIT: Just rewatched the third video; was pleased to see that it wasn't an all male competition. The girls looked like they were having fun, but were playing to win.......

I think you don't need visa to get here , so one problem less...
Well plane ticket might be issue ...

This race is organized by bikers club.
They got few hardcore female bikers, so that must be theirs influence...
And, maybe there should be alcotest before runing downhill.

As a kid I have caric too... I lost all my skin couple times when got crashed...

I was the man, I got one rubber wheel from trash container :p

I wanna try this... but where do you find those huge bearings??? lol!

Sorry J, but those bearings are pretty puny. If the guys' in maintenance haven't scrapped it yet, I'll try to get a couple of pic's of the scrap bearing they just pulled out of the front end of the A axis assembly of our smallest 5 axis CNC machine at work. I'm guessing that the id was all of 250mm, with the outer race clearing 400mm easily....
