Hey T,
That "is" the beauty of workin with this MDF wood based material
This MDF material is very stable
...easy ta work with
...holds fasteners pretty well
...& don't produce any splinters
* I challenge ya ta get ya a sheet of 1/2"
...& play with it
...or make...somethin'

Now back ta our regularly scheduled programmin'...
Preppin' the base for bondin' ta the "hump"

Bondin' the "hump" to the mid-section/base
* I also, used (4) 1 1/2" drywall screws
...(1) on each corner
...ta "double secure the "hump ta base" junction/connection

Then, added/installed/glued in some "fillet" material
...around the perimeter of the hump

I used some "gravity clamps" (bricks) ta help keep the "fillet" pieces nice-n-tight
