If there is any flexing at all it will pop out like a zit on a 13 year old girl's face. :smiley_omg: Bondo is not the answer, but lead body filler will stay. :wai:

Just did a bunch of reading on lead body filler. Looks like that will be my best choice since a 6.5hp on these mini bikes does nothing but flex. Looks a little tricky and I will need to pick up a torch

-Thanks

Engine came in the mail yesterday.
Went ahead and pulled governor, plugged hole, tapped the valve cover, and added air filter adapter.

The wife wanted the stock muffler left on since it is not loud:surrender:, but clearance issues won't allow that.

Another member at OMB is sending a weenie pipe thatis missing the flange, but has screw on muffler end. I will adapt that to fit and use screw on muffler.

Also made a top plate (from 55 gallon drum) today to house the fuel pump.

Okay my Walboro fuel pump is mounted.

My question is hooking it up...
Did I do it right?

I assume the " P "on pump is for pulse - right?

and the " Inlet " is from fuel tank - right?

So the blank one goes to my carb - right?

Solved my pipe and clearance issues...
Using a wiener pipe and a 90 degree pipe bend welded to it. Then. Screw on muffler. The muffler is for a 2-4 hp but still muffles it enough and meets the wife's approval. Decided to wrap it too.

Is your 90* pipe bend just a standard cast gas pipe fitting? That is what my stock briggs pipe had on it, I removed that just to help "flow". I am no expert and I have seen the exhaustive threads on here about exhaust characteristics and theory.
What do you think?
By the way the whole engine set up looks cool Nice work.

It is a standard 1/2" cast 90 degree bend.

My other mini bike had great low end torque with just the free flow exhaust ( very noticeable difference ). The threads you were reading are more than theory - they are factual info. I have not recorded my results with numbers, but I notice a difference in the torque and responsiveness on a 60lb mini bike. My neighbors like me just a little better with the mufflers on:surrender:

With TC and gov removed is about all the performance I really need in the neighborhood.

-thanks, figures her engine looks cooler than mine. I will probably make another top plate for my other engine with the same template I made.

Yeah they had a lot of info on exhaust and a lot of argument on free flowing verses backpressure. I never found a good solid answer. To me personally I don't want to rob performance but more importantly I don't want it loud in the neighborhood either. That's why I replaced the hard bend with a large sweeping bend and put the stock muffler on. (Plus it looks cooler) and I don't know if it helped cause I never ran it stock.

Cool trike build. I thought about buying the pitbike from mini chopper so cal where I got my barstool stuff from. Or doing something similar with a old pocket bike frame but I decided to go big or go home this year.

Can't wait to see it finished.

I was just wondering how the person riding the bike would reach the handles with the passenger in front of them. It looks like they would have to reach around quite a bit

There is a bit of a reach but I was waiting to assemble again to decide whether or not - or how much extension would be needed to add to handle bar length or height.

I know I should have put more time and effort into the body work (cleaning up welds, more sanding, body filler)but this is not a show bike. I am anxious to add another bike to the fleet and start riding.

The wife chose red. I decided to just use rattle cans. I think I have all parts to reassemble soon. Once I get a chance to ride it I will determine if a 40" axle is too wide or not. If so I will drop to the 36" or 32"

Paint is finished.
Hoping to finish assembly tomorrow or the next day and then ride.
