Are you not worried that the axle has so much overhang on either side? What i am trying to say is that the support is going to be far away from the end of the axle, and it might flex a bit too much and bend, especially on bumps

I have given this thought and and figured since it will be ridden on the road i hope it doesn't happen.

If it does - either buy a new axle or I depending on how bad it bends next winter will be a rear end widening or somehow figure out a way to add extension arms with 2 more hangers and bearings.

What do you think of the flex proof axles?

Yeah, you will probably be fine. That axle looks a bit pricey. Mild steel will probably be OK

Still waiting:toetap05: on the UPS man...
So I decided to not do handle bars for the child passenger, because it might get in the way.

I decided to bend up some 1/2" tubing a just make a grab bar.
Maybe I will start on some foot pegs until the UPS brown truck comes rolling in....

You may not have encountered a time yet where you need to stop fast and slide up but when you do. You'll be cursing that bar..

Pic 1: Plugs are 9" long and then the 6" long extension

Pic 2: How I will weld using rossette weld in the plugs, then weld the extensions in to the plugs and main frame.

Pic 3: The stretch... I need to grind and clean up welds still.

Pic 4 Is a handle off a surgical bone chisel and driver. I found 2 of these at my father in-laws office. They look to make the perfect foot peg for my son. They are aluminum and have a 9/16" fine thread. I will weld the bolt on then just screw pegs on.

Not a lot of garage time today. Today was mostly mach up on mounting the brake, fuel tank location, cross bar for added support and TC.

I had some clearance issues with back plate the 30 series TC. So I took the 20 series with 7" driven on the Doodle Devil. Top speed will be slower but the torque will still be there. I rolled it around in the garage and did notice some difficulty turning ( suppose that is why trikes have a differential ). - No worries though, that is another reason to keep the engine up front.

It does feel like chopper style seating (stretched). I also will be adding a wider stance on the foot pegs.

I got a few things done today before I leave for work, for the next 2 days.


Pic 1 and 2:
I fabricated a band brake mount out of 3/4" angled steel (it was actually 3/4" square tube ) and a 3/8" clevis pin.

Pic 3: added a 7/8" OD tube crossbar for additional support. ( it does clear chain in mock up)

Next days I get off I hope to relocated seat bracket, fab up remote fuel tank mount, and foot peg placement.

Added the old fender hoop to the bottom of the frame - as a sprocket guard.

I have about 1.5" clearance.
Too low?
The sprocket is 3" from ground so I figured I'd split the difference.

Under seat gas tank bracket welded up.

Cut old foot pegs off and welded a 3/8" grade 8 bolt and added my old highway/cruising pegs from my motorcycle.

Ordered a predator engine for this trike. Spent a lot of time with wire wheel and cleaning up some welds.
I did ad a brace on the motor plate to prevent flexing ( I was able to flex plate just by hand ).



What do you guys think of body filler or bondo?
I am considering this to make everything clean with smooth transitions.

Shouldn't have any problems with bondo as long as it's clean steel....
