When he checked the coil bolts and said they were tight, he was wiggling the coil and it had play in it.

Edit: He loosened the top bolt after checking if it was tight.

He loosened BOTH bolts after checking and saying the coil gap was correct.

Yeah, he had more a sec when he said both were tight after checking with the socket and them it moved. I was going to say!

He’s a moron for freewheeling an engine like that. For a split second it probably went to 9 or 10 grand and that’s all it takes. Seen morons blow car engines the same way.

An arc flywheel can be freewheeled much higher. With one simple arc flywheel the explosion would have come from the next weak part down the line.

To me it doesn’t matter if it‘s the metal wheel or the magnet from a metal wheel shrapnel off the block like that is a straight up explosion.

But in real life if that had been hooked up to a real load and reved it never would have happened. It only seems to happen when people act stupid.

Well that’s the real trick. We expect, from all the hoopla, that the magnet has so much force on it that it pierces the blower shroud and bounces around the room like an errant bullet or goes straight up to your crotch and renders you infertile for life (if you’re behind the handlebars).

Was this Bubba’s engine able to rev to 10K rippems (stiff springs, timing and so forth) or are we just exaggerating?

Any idea what the cause of this was? Looks like an abrupt stop or the key was just a bit too big but they hammered it on anyway.

Statically imbalanced pressure in the center caused by the jammed key/centrifugal force join teams...

I saw a different video where the "operator" free reved his engine and the same thing happened. The magnet let loose. But his broke the coil mount bosses clean off.
He had to drill and tap from the other side to replace them to remount the coil.
