The simple fact is, it's better to spend the extra few dollars & do the job correctly than take a short cut ('scuse the pun) & destroy the whole engine... So, you see, I'm actually trying to save you money

I technically can't do it correctly; there's no performance springs for this engine

I'm thinking I'll just order new clone springs and install them. Should be okay?

Ok, fair point; all you can do is find something "as close as possible" to what you need; unsprung height & spring rate are the important figures to look for...

Find springs with the same or very nearly the same installed height and pressure you need. Also make sure you do NOT end up with coil bind at full lift.
I really don't think anyone was trying to berate you as much as they were trying to prevent you from making a horrible mistake.
I for one have a hard time trying to articulate things that I seem to instinctively know from decades of experience. Sorry if we seemed harsh, but if you see someone stepping in front of a speeding bus are you going to say softly look out for the bus or are you going to yell it?

I found 26lb white springs with the same install height. Also found 18lb springs for the same model engine, but there are no specs, so I'm kinda eye-balling it.
