Hello new to the forum and go karts
I picked up a crossfire 150 roller and I purchased a 212 predator engine.
The cart itself is quite heavy add 200 pounds of driver and it really heavy
Will this predator engine be able to move the cart out of its way.
It has 22" rear tires the axle side gear has 31 teeth the drive gear it originally had had 13 teeth
But it was a gy6 150cc with a cvt Trans
I'm not looking for 40+ mph but I would like the torque and power curve to be lower to help out in mud and sand and rocky terrain.

I am a talented fabricator and a mechanic by trade so u know my way around engine and the norm but a go-kart is new territory
any info on the gearing or should I try a different engine

I would just buy a GY6, 500 bucks (new) or 325 used, and you are done, vs engine plus TC. If not, the engine I would go with is a DuroMax 16HP at $300 and Chinese 40 series torque converter.

I have a 2 gy6 engines but I do not like them them they are mostly garbage and I have one with reverse I have contacted the seller of the predator and asked to cancel my order so we will see how that goes if they do I guess I will see about getting a better motor

13hp gx390
Or briggs vanguard vtwin 16 hp
Or predator 420cc

Coupled with 40 series torque converter and comet fnr gearbox

You will need a higher tooth count axle sprocket (60t)

Jackshaft sprocket should be 9t, or 10t will get you right at 40 mph max speed.

If you can get your hands on the 16 hp vanguard, that would be the perfect dngine in my opinion.

Managed to cancel my engine order. So I'm in the hunt for a new engine trying to keep it under $500, looking into 250cc motorcycle engines with Trans
Would give me a great selection of ratios of I used a jackshaft
I also stripped the cart of all the electrical elements and installed my race seats
they fit good and are much more comfy than the seats that it had

...Not a single punctuation mark, which can make posts difficult to read/understand; I noticed your next post has a few so, in the future, please try to use a few more

I'm not trying to be a grammar nazi but, if we can't understand your post, it makes it difficult for us to help you...

So I'm looking at buying a Honda crf450 that needs a rebuild. Thinking that if I get it cheap enough I will just scavenge the brakes for the crossfire, and do a full rebuild on the motor, I figure that engine with the Trans and proper gearing should make the cart a pretty nice tire burner.

And for fabroman
'",;:"&#%! Incase I was missing any punctuation lol.

A) The GY6 is not a bad engine. It is a Honda design, and a proven one at that. Sure it is old design and any intellectual property protection has expired, but that does not make it a bad thing.

B) As all things, the manufacturer process is key when building engines. Some unbranded GY6 compared to a Howitt, Yakama or a true Honda GY6 has a high chance of being disappointing.

C) I have a GY6 (w/Reverse) on my Crossfire 150R (see below) and LOVE it. Better performing engine than the Briggs & Straton, Tecumseh, Predator 212 or any other engines I have, or have had.

D) The CVT in the GY6 out torques the 212 with a 30 series, and just barely slightly less torque than a 40 series. Also the internal CVT of the GY6 does not have to be maintained nowhere near as much as a TC.

E) Cheaper - Yup, in the long run that GY6 will be MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper to upgrade, repair or replace than an engine/TC combo.

F) Finally, if the GY6 that comes with it does not have enough power, get a bigger GY6 or a CF250/CN250

Just my thots based off my experiences

Lyfesaver assuming I go with the GY6 power train, how would I wire up the most basic engine harness? I am just wanting to make sure I can get it started before attempting to rebuild it.

Give it a compression test, that's what I would do. If it has compression, anything else will be a cheap fix more than likely.

As for a basic harness, while I do not know, I do think that might have been answered already somewhere on the forums. Will try and look, later for ya.

With a compression tester,
It only had 40psi, I figure it should have roughly 120psi or so.
I found a piston and ring set for $12.00,
The case looked like crap
