Talked with a friend of mine who was leading the pack that night. He's been in contact with the local kart supplier and says he has a rear axle. Another friend with a kart happened to buy a junker Grasshopper for parts, and is going to sell me the front axle.
I did get my front tires changed, only to find that I need new wheel bearings. So… should I get some new bearings, I can fix this thing for not too much.

ok I understand the kart got some rash but i have yet to see any damage to you sirs..

Here's my right shoulder and both knees after 2 different crashes.. 2 weeks ago.. ;)

Mini bike and kart..

Helmet, pants and sleeves were worn on both incidents.. Both were also on my land or a private dirt road..

Shoulder..

Both knees.. You can see on the knees the one on the right has a full on scab while the other is fresh..

so the story goes I hit this other guy and went corkscrewing through the air. I remember being airborne, and wondering where the kart was going to land… that must have been when I scored some tire rash on the inside of my arm.

I don't have pics but I cracked my left knee open a bit, and opened my right calf some too. thats the extend of the visible damage. The rest of it is just bumps and bruises.

That depends on your age and personal milage. In my case, the milage is coming back to haunt me worse than my actual age. Waking up in the ICU with your torso, head and limbs restrained so you don't do even worse damage by trying to move is an experience I really wouldn't wish on anyone; combine that with the six plus months of intense physical therapy I had to fight thru to get back to work? Those are the "cooler" stories you wish to brag about?!?!?

Sorry, I have to strongly suggest that you actually think that one thru in detail; once you get past the paper cut stage, physical injury really isn't something I would list as bragging rights......:ack2: :ack2: :ack2:

I agree with Machinist. I'm pushing 40 now. It's been a week since this happened and I still have one spot right in the middle of my back that still hurts. I'm going to see a chiropractor first, then a doctor if that does't help. Scars only have cooler stories if you make them up. I can point to a dozen scars on my hands and to tell the truth, I got one at work, I got another when I was messing with a knife, one came from getting my hand slammed in a screen door, there's a dark spot from jabbing a pencil lead in my plan, etc. One of the more noticeable ones came from rolling over a go kart and crushing my right pinky. I missed out on all the fun stuff that summer, no swimming, no motorcycles, no carnival rides, all because I had a cast on my arm and pins sticking out of my finger. To this day, 20 years later, I still have nerve damage from it.

Whenever you get the idea that you want to do something stupid and risk pain and suffering, just hit yourself in the face with a hammer and remind yourself that pain is no fun.

My comment about scars was in fun.. I think it is a funny saying, sorry if you didn't find it amusing.

You have to pay to play.. regardless if its cash/blood/broken parts on a kart or whatever the case maybe.

:toetap05:  :roflol: The only "cool" thing that came out of that particular personal low point (and helped with the whole trying to stay sane thing while I was in therapy) was that I tripped over this website......... :devil2: :sifone: :worried2:
