Good find.
Whats is up with people though, that weld sprockets and other stuff to shafts and axles, with not a decent weld either. Almost all these barn finds, happens to be the same shiza.

Welded sprocket to axle, but couldn't weld,so there is just a BB ring all the way around. Then, I notice the jackshaft was sitting funny,at an angle, engine too..... So I blast off the grease and grime off of everything. Ahhh, now I see it.... The mounting plate is bent downward on the sprocket side. So the po decided to try welding the jackshaft plate at the right angle. But don't know how to weld..... Look at the pics. ABSOLUTELY no penetration in the mounting plate. All he had to do is bend the plate back. Then reinforce it..... Dam lazy people. Lazy people work twice as hard..... :censored:
The engine.... This was stored outside. Look at the muffler. How dumb can you be.... It will was full of water..... :censored::censored:. It does show signs that it will be alive again,by tomorrow evening, as long as all goes as planned..... BUT you know how that works..... :lolgoku:

Anybody know an easy way to straighten out this mounting plate, besides using a torch to heat it up?

Bending it with a large adjustable wrench, using a hammer and big square ended "dolly", to square it up.

I thought about that, but with the sprocket welded , I can't really get to the part I need to. If I have to I might grind away all the weld and move it, just trying to avoid that, at the moment.... :lolgoku:

Ok that was too easy... The thin plate bent back easy. Which tells me it's gonna bend back again..... Going to my storage to rummage up some 1/4" plate to make a sandwich.... It won't bend this time..... :lolgoku::stir::stir:

Well I got the engine running again! It was plum full of water.... I mean to the TOP!! :smiley_omg:
I did a couple things to get the water remnants out. I filled it with fresh oil, and ran it till it got to operating temperature. Then I flushed out all the oil again. This happened 3 times, so far, and I will do it once more, after its been run for at least 30minutes non stop. Oil change #1 the oil still had evidence of water. Oil change #2 only had what looked like might have been water (moisture).... #3 the oil looked good. Almost still "fresh".... The engine was left at idle for about 10-15 minutes at a time, thinking this was plenty to get to temps.....
The belt it came with is not the correct one, way too big, therefore, was damaged..... I'm gonna order the correct one in the morning (as long as I don't forget) from ebay. $15 free shipping. Can get a pair, for only $26! I hope it's a good quality. It looks exactly the same as the other ones going for $18+ plus shipping..... :surrender:
That's it for tonight, hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow and start on the mounting plate solution..... I'm hoping to have this running and ready by Friday. It's going back into the market for a quick sell... I found a drill press that would look real nice in MY garage..... :cheers2:
