Well I am running on a budget so I think it's either that or a centrifugal clutch unless there is a better option in the $200 price range

So looking at my tires size is 22-12-8 and rim size is 8x5??? Seems a little off. I picked up 2 new rims and went with a 8x7 rim and will be going with 22-11x8 tires did I make the right choice going up a size in rims?

I can guarantee you won't find better for that price (series 40 usually run around $350 set up) but, I can almost guarantee that one won't last long before something gives out; I hope you can prove me wrong...

It's not like the tyres will pull off the rims with the original setup but, there may be a bit of side to side movement in the tyres; having said that, I think you would've been ok with the original setup

i agree with fabroman, my 6 hp tecumpseh used to break those, even damage genuine comet's, only mod was no govenor... probably won't last very long with 13 hp, the other issue is that converter is asymetrical, or only beveled on one side of belt, other side flat, the 40 series units are symetrical, 15 degree? bevel on both sides, more grip, pretty sure the power of big engine will slip belt on smaller unit...

Sounds like there isn't a quality converter that will handle my setup other than the 40 series, with that being said is this what I'm looking for (link below) I have never used a torqe converter so I apologize for all of the questions, in previous projects I have only used centrifugal clutches

With that being said it seems my two threads are discussing the same topics moderators feel free to combine them or delete the other one if need be, sorry for over posting

Nice trike! I hadn't seen your thread, but saw this on craigslist.

Was a serious buyer, unfortunately the guy starting getting all mad and yelling at me when i asked what his lowest price is... Apparently he only wants asking... Oh well. "The motors worth more than the asking price. I'll just put the motor on Ebay for $1000, and put an 8hp on it for my daughter." Direct quote from the seller. Rant over...

HERES THE BIG THING;
I did a little bit of research on the trikes before hand, and found an original Alsport brochure/product log... Not sure what you would call it. I know what i would call it- COOL! :lolgoku: Anyway, here's the link;

Mine came with a 5hp flathead Briggs. They do have both small and big block patterns on the engine plate though. Great deal for what you paid for it.
