Found this on Craigslist for $100.00. Going to be for my nephew...though I squeeze in a few test rides. New clutch, carb rebuild, relocated gas tank and added filter. Took off some shrouding around head for for cooling. Former 2 seater for two very small kids. Moved brake pedal and linkage to the far left and centered new steering column, now a one seater able to carry one "big kid". Missing rollcage parts and new piece for relocated gastank made from emt conduit. More to come .

The metel around the shroud is there for a reason. It's ment to direct the air flow from the flywheel fins to the top end.

Why is it important? If it's intended as ducting for air from the flywheel that would make sense, but not enough airflow is generated to be significant versus the air allowed to pass over the head during use.

No guarantee the airflow is correct when kart is underway.
If all duct work is in place, air will be forced to go where it's needed most...even when kart is stopped with engine running.
Why chance it? It's no fun dealing with a seized engine.

Thanks for the input. I'll have to dig around to see if i still have parts...or it may be fabrication time. Just out of curiosity does anyone know the average operating temp. of the tecumseh 6 hp.? I didn't see any reference in tech book.

around 350-400 *F higher than 400=BAD THINGS.

I'd say around 320*F and a EGT (Exaust Gas Temperature) Not over 1350*F
