I bought a "stoneware" type pan from Big Lots a year or so ago....At first, I didn't care that much for it...but then it started working very well and I really liked it....except for that bumpy looking surface...but the non-stick part worked very well. I was disappointed when I found the directions said to use plastic utensils and moderate heat. Now the coating is starting to come loose....(don't get me wrong, it's been a pretty good pan...I use the crap out of my cookware....and abuse it ,too.)

So....I've been seeing these Copper Chef and Red Copper pans on TV....and REALLY wanted to get one...(especially the Copper Chef)....but...after reading reviews online...I can see why they don't sell them in stores!

Apparently, the Copper Chef is copper painted!

Anyway, anyone here have any experience with these pans?

Doug really?

I could've SWORN you'd use the same steel or maybe even stainless pans your mom used 60 years ago;
sure, they are not coated in teflon or ceramics..
but there's a reason they're still being used in professional kitchens all over the world.

Anyways, coated pan that you can abuse...

Do you have WOLL cookware in the US?
They're plasma jet hardened
makes a nearly indestructable surface
so if you have, get yourself a TitanPlus with detachable handle (or the steel one)

I have stainless pans....and I have the original non-stick pan...(well seasoned cast iron) , but I also have used teflon pans in the past.

If these pans would perform as advertised, it would be killer....but from what I can gather...(and already knew....pretty much), was that copper is a good heat conductor, but isn't stronger than steel, and these pans rely on a ceramic coating.

These new pans are being developed because the Government is mandating that Teflon be phased out....(something about making them PAFR free or some such!)

The on-line reviews of these "as seen on tv" pans speak for themselves. Mostly that the claims are BS. Just make a fry pan out of Flex Seal.

What's a pan? I just go see the clown, king or chef when I'm hungry. Sad but true.

Denny

I actually want to visit the clown today. They brought back that mushroom swiss buttery Jack...that's a good burger. I wish they would make it a regular menu item.

I actually USED to eat out a lot. I have my favorite meals from all over.

But speaking of Jack in the Box....I used to get breakfast from one every day..(meaty breakfast burrito and a large unsweetened ice tea.) I would just pull up to the drive thru and say: "It's Doug...." and they would know exactly what I wanted!

So if I had pulled in there and said "It's Doug", I could have stolen your breakfast. My Father-in-Law used to frequent Mrs. Winners (maybe regional) and get a $0.99 sausage biscuit. He'd reach into his jacket pocket and produce a fried egg in a sandwich bag he'd brought from home. Plus free senior coffee. No wonder they went under.

Yeah they say on the packaging they need to be kept inside. Who keeps a hose inside? I get it, the UV rays ruin them. Still, maybe overcome that small problem before bringing the product to market.

Ahhhh....I actually haven't pulled the senior card yet. Reminds me though, there is a lumberyard that gives 10% discount to seniors on Tuesdays....(I always hated going there on Tuesdays....bunch of senile old men staring at shelves like cows looking at a new gate...)

Only thing worse is some old woman in the express lane....arguing something should be five cents cheaper or digging 5 minutes to find a fifty cent off coupon!

Just out of curiosity: what do Riedel wine glasses cost in your neck of the woods, Alex?

I only ask because the name seems vaguely familiar.
