Ive actually been emailing that guy for about 2 weeks and he told me that hed give it to me for 75. but i just emailed him and he says that someone else came up. if the other guy doesnt give him a deposit by this weekend hell let me know.

is that a good engine??

No where does it say it runs. And him saying "it ain't fast with out mixed gas" scares me that he ran that motor, a 2 stroke, with straight gas.

hey red sox, in the post that you made earlier you said that one of those 125 engines made about 9 hp and redlined at around 9000 rpms, but the one that i found said around 30hp and redlined at 11000 rpms. did i look for the wrong type of engine? could i possibly get a link to the right engine?

He was referring to 4-stroke pit bike engines, and you found a 2-stroke dirtbike engine.

found a 110cc pit bike engine on cl. emailed him to see how much he wants for it. would 110cc be good enough for a kart to get it around 45?

Yea. 110cc will work. Just look up the stock gearing for the bike and add a few teeth to the rear to help compensate for the additional weight. Who makes a 110cc? Am I safe to assume that a 110 would most likely be a pit bike?

I believe that's the whole pit bike vs race bike dilemma. And that guy probably has a race engine, but who knows.

the guy with the 110cc hasnt replied yet but the guy with the snowmo has. he says that the pto turns over, and that both pistons move freely, it has spark and good compression and all the clutch components and drive setup is complete. he said 75 for it.

im thinking about trading him my old kart the one with the kohler engine that doesnt run and the 5 horse with the bent crank.

if he agrees will this be a good deal??

You need the driven unit from the sled to make it work.

a little pricey for me and on top of that i have to pay for shipping.

the guy who sold me tha kart told me that hed give me the 18 horse briggs for 80. would that be better than a sled engine, or the 125??

I wasn't recommending that for you, only saying options exist cheaply. From best to worst, it would go, IMO, sled, 125, 18hp briggs.

ok dont take this the wrong way, but why? im not trying to go above you or shoot down an ideas i just want to know why. like advantges and disadvantages of it all. just so i get a good understanding of why you placed different thing first second or third. im really new to "big" engines if you would call it that.

I said a sled was best because of it's dramatically larger displacement, CVT, and high RPMs. Second, I put the 125 because of it's manual gearbox, lower displacement, and high RPMs. Lastly, I put the Briggs 18HP because of it's lower power-weight ratio, governed RPMs, need of a CVT ($200-300), and, limited RPMs even once the governor is removed.

how hard is it to get it running? he said that the pistons move freely, nothings seized up, the carbs are good, and its all complete with the wiring and everything. he says has good compression but he doesnt know about spark because its missing both plugs. he said that it ran before and that all the clutch pieces are good. since it was under covers and the engine has that body thing over it it hasnt really been exposed to elements after he got it. he says it needs new plugs and a tune up. I think it should be an easy fix but before i go buying anything i wanted to post here. so whadda ya think should i go for it?
