I got fed up with windows xp and downloaded Ubuntu 12.04 (Linux setup). I can still boot XP and I was wondering if there was any way to delete XP all together? Thanks.

i cant remember the exact way to do so, but under boot options in the linux start menu, there should be an option to boot linux upon start up, when you do so, it should get rid of xp. be careful tho, i did this on my old hp mini. and now the hard drive is wiped and gone. i set it on my kitchen table, in the case and i woke up to it gone. well its sitting under my recliner right now and im on my dell mini

Yea I tried booting a blank harddrive with the CD I burned, and it kept saying the CD wasent found. Maybe it needs xp for somethin. Oh well, I deleted mostly everything off XP, only the operating system really remains. Good enought.

Its a peice tho, 40 gb harddrive, .5 gb ram, pentium 4 prosessor. It probally wouldent even run 7. I upgraded to 1.5gb ram, 2 40gb harddrives, and a DVD burner drive (All used computer parts I scrounged up). Its still slow, I can get a copy of windows 7, did it slow yours down?

You need to burn Ubuntu onto a CD as an ISO image. Once you've got the CD burned, put the CD back in the computer and shut down the computer. Start the computer back up and it'll go straight to the Ubuntu setup. When you go through the setup, it'll give you the option to install ubuntu and wipe the HD.

Don't run Ubuntu on it then. At least not a newer version. I put it on a computer that we got about 8 years ago and the thing is slow as all get out.
