I have contemplated the idea of using a tc on my kart too, but because all the engines I have don't have one of those standard PTO's, (well, except for the clones) I'm most certain I'd have to jackshaft it. I really want to see how you go about doing this, Russ.

Same deal here. Plenty of other engines TC will work on just fine.
Really wanted to try it on DuraForce L-B but seems it can't be done as-is. I could tap crankshaft but would prefer something that's 'plug 'n' play'. Jackshaft is something I won't even consider.
I do have a 28 year old L-B with tapped pto. It was one of my original conversions. Was never actually tested as there was no way to muffle the bastard due to the way it was designed. I think I mentioned this 'problem' in another posting.
At any rate, I will end up getting a TAV just for S & G's. Just have to decide which model would be correct for my set-up using the clone or perhaps Jacobsens/Clintons. TAV 30 or 40?

Hey Russ- Here's just a sort of what if..... are ANY of the mounting bosses left from when the Duraforce was mounted on a mower? (The bolt holes that would've been used to secure the motor to the deck) If so, what if you were to get an aluminum or steel plate, bolt it to the LB's old deck mounting holes on the motor, and then drill into the plate the 4 holes for the TAV? It clould also be utilised as part of a new horizontal mount. Tapping the end of the PTO isn't that bad of a deal, it's mounting the TAV bracket that's gonna be the head-scratcher.

Ok heres my pictures I promised Russ. First the bushing goes onto the crank. Then the back sheive. Then the Bronze belt idler bushing. Then the splined thingy, Then the movable sheive and lastly the cover and the bolt. The grey substance on the crank is Anti-seize. Trust me if you dont use this the back sheive will get seized on in a matter of weeks and it must be cut off. I made this mistake already.

I think I get it now. Best bet seems to be the TAV2-30.
How does my chain come into play in all of this? Does chain just need to be shortened now? To compensate for length of TAV?
How and where does chain exit TAV?
I may need more photos of completed installation.
Sorry about all the questions, but it's stuff I need to know before layin' out this kind of coin.
Thanx again.

Russ they designed the torque converter sprocket to be inline with the crankshaft. Its ment to be a replacement for a cent clutch. Meaning pull off your cent and bolt up this kit and the sprocket is in the same place as it would be on a Cent clutch. The sprocket on the tav is inbetween the back of the secondary pulley and the aluminum casting mount plate.

That's the pic I was looking for.
I think my questions have been answered.
Just one more.
Who would have the best prices on these?
I have seen them for $169. Anything better than that price that you know of?

Yeah I have seen them for that price to. But realy once its shipped to you your looking at $200 probably. We paid $316 dollars for ours at princes auto. it was $270 or so without tax. I dont know why there so expensive at princes auto. And when I forgot to put anti seize on the shaft and I tried to remove the back sheive a couple weeks ago and ended up having tp cut it off I was forced to buy a ENTIRE new converter JUST for that pulley. So now we have over $600 in torque converters. I have a brand new in the box torque converter just missing the bolt and that back sheive. PS I couldnt find just the replacement back sheive on the parts list online.

I went ahead and made the purchase.
I'm sure it can be adapted to something.
Possible engines to use are Clintons, Lifan clone, Jacobsens, and possibly a 28 year old model 'D' Lawn-Boy.
The old L-B will be attempted first. At the moment it's just collecting dust as is the clone.
The L-B is only 3.5 horse but will easily out-spin most other antiques in my collection. With exhaust port completely exposed, will resemble the "The Lawn-Boy From Hell" or "The Lawn-Boy Powered GoKart of Death".
Thanx to all those who helped out.
I owe you one, Mr. Tyler.

PS
If perchance this doesn't work out, I will sell it at a discounted price to whom-ever may want it.
