I took the racer to a couple
of shows. what a head turner when I open the hood.
I think the car is to heavy for the clutch.
I am wondering if I should replace the clutch with a sprocket and chain and use the 39 ford clutch to engage the drive. any comments?

You could just gear lower IMO. Why do you say that the kart is too heavy? What is happening?

What's the motor? Pics of that.

This. I cannot remember if you had posted what engine you have

The engine is a 16 hp briggs. I rebuilt it. It is from a roper tractor. Hope the pictures come thru.

The car has a frame made from channel iron. Don't know who built it. The frame horns are welded to it for the springs.
I ran the car with a belt and an idler pulley. It really ran good but the belt could not take the torque or horse power. That is why I went to the comet clutch. I have a Ford v8 60 hp flywheel pressure plate and clutch already in the car. The kids are too small to work the clutch pedal.
