does anyone know how much a kart can weigh for a comet 500 clutch. I have built the grand kids a 2/3 model t ford racer and I want to drive it with this clutch.

I think it's more HP on the rating, 16 Hp . If it is on the heavy side you need to keep the gearing on the low side so it does not burn the belt.
What is the weight and intended terrain ?

Nope.....they can't....need to know tooth counts....wheel size....as well as weight and HP......

the rear end ratio is 2.5 to one. .the tire size is 23 inches in diameter. The weight I do not know. the transmission is a 1932 ford three speed. it will be ran in low gear.

If your ratio is 2.5:1, then you have a SERIOUS problem. Tyres 23"!! Dang. You are not going to move. You need at least a 10:1 ratio or lower

Well....he's running a transmission....so that will alter the gear ratio....it's tough to say....

the low gear is 2.82 to1 and the rear end is 2.5 to one. this should 7.5 to one from the driven clutch.
I have removed the coil and have installed a car coil.

if I had the 29-24-17-15 tooth cluster gear and the 14 tooth main gear then first gear would be 3.52 to one.
may be I will start looking for these or convert to a model a ford tranny.

I got the governor springs installed and took the car out for a drive. Only had it in low gear but it seemed to run good.

I took the racer to a couple
of shows. what a head turner when I open the hood.
I think the car is to heavy for the clutch.
I am wondering if I should replace the clutch with a sprocket and chain and use the 39 ford clutch to engage the drive. any comments?
