Go for it, gear it a little lower than you normally would. I tried once because i completely burnt out the clutch on my scrap kart (and then welded the drum to the shoes lol). It didnt work to well because my gearing was way too high (6:1 with 21" tires).

And you cant stop.... no like really you cant unless you have good enough brakes to stall the motor.
What you normally do (if theres only one person, other wise you get a friend to push you until it goes) is lift the back end of the kart up and run as fast as you can while holding the back end in the air then drop it and try and jump in while its going along, sounds fun hay

I use direct drive sprockets frequently...especially when testing drive lines for weaknesses or I'm not ready to invest in another clutch.have you guys ever tried to run a kart without clutch???:rolleyes3: and if yes how did it go???
