k cool, so now it's it's all nice and restored. time to hack it up and throw some suspension, knobby tires, and a 13hp motor on it! then you can drive it anywhere, and have a lot more fun with it! :)

LOL...yeaaa.. It was that way once when I was a kid .. went to the "dark side" with it for a while. It was lucky it survived. Kept all the original parts...decided to restore it a few years back. The o'l gal deserved it after all those years of abuse.

@ruppkart -- nice restoration. Mine started in decent mechanical shape, but I wanted to make it a true racer with lower frame position, etc. It's taken a backseat to the Robron I got, and have almost complete.

Recently, I've swapped out the front spindles for the ones that came on the robron and got a swing mount to replace the fixed mount I removed. I also acquired an Azusa drum brake to retrofit on the bearing carrier. It will require some mods. I'll post pics here and it's closer to done. I have the steering column back in, and should be able to wheel it out of the garage as a "roller" in the next week or so. It will be riding on Azusa tri-stars and should look pretty good as a cross between the robron/rupp and the clark.

Thanks for everyone's input and sorry I was gone so long! :)

coming along nicely I see .....

They I.D tag with the model was not like the one you have pictured.... it was a small rectangular paper laminate tag on the front side of the seat about center, behind the cushion. It contained the model and serial number of the kart. I have a model 446 Rebel restored original....I will be re installing the original wheels back on very soon...currently have Tri stars also on it.

The 440 Cyclops and the 446 Rebel were very close models .. their was a difference with the spacing of those two rear tubes of which one you removed. Without checking, and I would need to go up top my garage...I believe the model you have is a Rebel .. not a Cyclops... the Rebel was a rarer kart.. fewer of those come up for sale when you see them.

If you really want to confirm the model .. let me know...I'll take a look on mine.

They were as one pointed out a very close copy of the narrow hoop Rupp A- Bones...different seat side gussets, narrower steering hoop .. different pedals... longer rear clip and extra support cross member across the back.

They handle quite well with a Clinton Panther or West Bend 580 motor on them...fun to ride.

Regardless....what you have their is a vintage kart by the standards .. they were made in the late 1960's to early 1970's.

Good luck with the project .. hope to see it completed soon. Be well.

Been a while since I checked in... Both the "Clark/Rupp" conversion and the other RobRon I acquired will be "runners" this week. Just gotta' get 'em assembled. I'll post pics when done, and perhaps a vid. The Clark/Rupp will have a 4-cycle for simplcity's sake, but the RobRon will be a true "vintage" kart with West Bend 820 setup. It will be direct-drive too, which should be fun....hehe ~Ted

Great to hear that .. looking forward to seeing the completed photos.

Direct Drive 820..... Oh Boy you are in for some fun.... did you install a compression release ? ... I have twin 820's on a Rupp Chaparral I'm completing.. they are real wrist breakers.
