Cheap welder, but best welder for price?

oh if this convinces you to get a auto darkening helmet idk what will... my dads co worker just gave me a perfectly good still working helmet just cause there is one black spot in the lense... it dont mess with the function of the helmet at all its just a small annoyance... and i think thats from alot of abuse.

btw the maker is arc one? model hawk? something like that...

I think I might afterall..... the only question is, are the HF ones do-able? Aka dont flash you/melt just from being within 10ft of heat?

go to lowes or something and check out what they have... they may have something in your price range... im drooling over the kobalt ones with the GIANT lenses in em!

I finally told my father building a kart was something that I wanted to do(wrote him a note, since the court ordered shrink(nasty divorce) told me that I should do a project with him, and since everything was moved, and the note is gone, I assume that he read it....) so just waiting on the final answer...

I have the plain HF auto one as well, And a hobart handler 140 (or 180?) W / Argone and its suited me VERY well.

Its almost $200 cheaper than the 140, it has infinite wire speed, and the same 4 amp settings.... But my question is, is the 20 amps really worth $10/amp?

I dont plan on welding aluminum.... and if I ever do, ill cross that bridge when I come to it..(I imagine that it CAN be done, proably just not a pleasant experience...)

I dont think I will be putting gas on it any time soon, but, I figured that I will put away two weeks of pay... if its a good week.. thats $588 ($6/hr under the table, times 7 days a week(unless rain)... Which if I can get a good deal/price, might buy me a tank of gas too.... but then again, I dont need to spend all $600....

Yea.... but then Uncle sam takes about a buck of that... (Its under the table, so I have no taxes taken off that six bucks

But not to mention that I get free food and drink all day(I drink about a gallon of soda at work alone...) So it all evens out....

That is also not to mention that my boss is always picking me up(no license yet) and offering to take me with her kids places.. And before we get on the 'thats odd approach' she is a family friend... for whom I have been working since I was about 12..(Min age for working papers is 14... and I still dont have them, since I 'dont exist')

So in the end I probably make more than someone actually getting paid minimum....


Plus the added perk, is that I get to work with a couple hot girls, and work on a beach(ie: hot girls in bikkinis...(although some that shouldnt be allowed out without a warning sign attached reading "Wide Load.. keep back 300 feet")
